Frequently Asked Questions

  • Eligible families must:

    • Have at least one child who qualifies for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or can provide documentation outlined in the ‘Acceptable Eligibility Documentation’ section.
    • Not have outstanding debt to Comcast that is less than a year old. Families with outstanding debt more than one year old may still be eligible.
    • Live in an area where Comcast Internet service is available but have not subscribed to Comcast Internet service within the last 90 days, where applicable.
  • Yes, families who home school their children are eligible for Internet Essentials but must provide the verification outlined in the ‘Acceptable Eligibility Documentation’ section.

  • Yes. If you meet the rest of the eligibility criteria for Internet Essentials, then you are eligible to sign up for the program.

  • Yes, if you meet the program guidelines:

    • 90 days must pass from the disconnect date before you can re-apply for the program in most instances.
    • You cannot have an outstanding Comcast debt that is under one year old.
    • You must still have a least one child receiving free or reduced-price school lunches through the National School Lunch Program.
  • Some customers will need to provide the following documents to complete their application:

    • A completed & signed application.
    • Verification that your child qualifies for the National School Lunch Program or alternate verification.Please see questions on Acceptable Documentations.
  • Please send the signed application and copies of your of your proof of eligibility by mail,email, fax or the Document Upload option on our website

  • For students participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) A copy of a letter indicating current participation in the NSLP or Home Start, with your child's name and the school name.

    For students enrolled in public, charter, private, virtual, denonminational or parochial schools who are not participating in the NSLP



    1. Proof of participation in SNAP, TANF or FDPIR programs, *
    AND
    2. One of the following:
    -Copy of recent report card or progress report, with school and student's name.
    -Copy of student ID, with school and student's name
    -Letter from the school, on school letterhead, confirming the child's enrollment at the school
    For homeschooled students who are not participating in the NSLP 1. Proof of participation in SNAP, TANF or FDPIR programs, *
    AND
    2.One of the following:
    -Copy of document or waiver from the state or district identifying the child as homeschooled
    -Copy of proof of participation in a homeschool club, association or organization
  • Applicants that are auto-approved should be approved within approximately 5 business days of their application date. Applicants that are not auto-approved should be approved within 7-10 business days of the date that they submitted their signed application and supporting documentation.
